CELEBRATE LIFE CONFERENCE June 27-29, 2025 Capital Hilton, Washington, D.C.
The launch of Loving Zoe in Washington D.C., was an interesting experience for me. My colleagues and I from Edmonton and Calgary, Alberta, took turns running our exhibitor table. My friend Colleen was my assistant.
The two ladies from Calgary were Christin Rosa, author of the book SAVING NATE: Choosing Life After a Devastating Prenatal Diagnosis, which is being published by Focus on the Family and launching in January, 2026. The other lady was Jocelynn Rodrigues, who has a compelling, true pro-life message that she has shared at several events in Canada and the United States. I have heard both of them speak at an event, and their stories are powerful as well as moving.
We all got to attend interesting sessions, as well as have one-on-ones with movers and shakers of the American pro-life movement. It was exciting to meet and chat with Abby Johnson, the former director of a Planned Parenthood clinic, and whose life was portrayed in the 2019 movie UNPLANNED, and who is launching a new movie: UNTHINKABLE. As well, I got to meet Kristin Hawkins, the president of Students for Life of America. Jocelynn was able to meet with Dr. Monique Ruberu (www.naturalwomenshealth.com )who speaks out on how abortion is never medically necessary.
The biggest thrill for me was to be able to sit next to Dr. John Bruchalski at the Gala Dinner. He is a former abortionist and for years now, he and his wife have created an organization named Divine Mercy Care in Fairfax, Virginia, where he runs a pro-life prenatal healthcare centre. I gave him my author card as well as a copy of Loving Zoe. It will be interesting to see how my three fictional abortionists stand up to the real-life experience of a doctor who was once a practitioner in the field.
The Gala also featured speakers who were Capitol Hill politicians, and Riley Gaines, the olympic swimmer who has risen greatly in the media in the last few years for speaking out on banning men from women's sports as well as women's private spaces. She and her husband are now expecting their first child.
